I’m relapsing back into my pre-fatherhood years. For the second weekend in a row, we went out to see live music. Saturday night found us at the Stagger Inn in Edwardsville to see the Ginn Sisters (that’s a hard G, like in gangsta) from Austin. Sisters Tiffani and Brit came in billed as "The Hottest Harmonies in Texas", and they didn’t disappoint. Think of a more folksy Freakwater, or, if that reference is lost on you, how about a less polished Dixie Chicks (that reference is lost on me.)
Their songs were great and their between song banter and overall presentation made for the kind of performance that made me wish the young college whippersnappers in attendance would have shut their yaps and listened to the show. No harm, I suppose. Despite battling illness, Tiffani demonstrated a Letterman-like ability to make a bad joke funny with witty post-punchline commentary.
They were joined on stage by their mother, Carrie (sic ?), Tif’s husband Bill Passalacqua, and Bill’s brother Larry. I went to college with Bill, which is how I found myself in Edwardsville on a Saturday night. He’s a great perfomer in his own right, and if you have young children, they need to hear Jack Rabbit.
Since Tammy and I had a night out without the kids, and we were in the vicinity of FairviewHeights, I thought I’d treat her to somewhere special for dinner. We brought some home for the kids and the babysitter.
HUMZOO Welcome!
Another Japanese surf rock band? NO! It’s a new venture from our local Heinzel. HUMZOO is "a free service that lets people create personal web sites that are easy to browse, easy to edit and easy on the eyes.” There’s also an affordably priced extra-feature version. Somebody interested in setting up a class of 1980 grade school alumni site (hint, hint) might find this the perfect vehicle for achieving that venture.

Dan,
You just had to rub it in with the Chick-Fil-et picture didnt you. And I thought you were cool! LOL
Hmmmm, let’s see, in the local vicinity over the weekend and what….not even a phone call? 20 minutes away no less. Must have fallen WAY down the list these days.
I didn’t mean to taunt. Are there no Chick-Fil-As in Chicagoland?
Chaz,
Please accept my apologies. We had waves of illness sweep through our house last week and we weren’t positive we were going untill Friday. That’s still no excuse. I had planned to email you, Grimsley, Pete, Mark, and the Effingham boys, but failed to do so.
Have you ever been to the Stagger Inn? It seems like your kind of joint.
