Here’s Who’s Missing:TV sibling edition

URGENT UPDATE: Once again the official results have been thrown into question. I just noticed an email in my Inbox dated 12/9/2008 from Yellowdog. It contained his guesses to the trivia quiz, and get this, he answered nine correctly, missing only question number five. League officials will be taking his entry under advisement during their weekly conference call on Monday.
Okay, it looks like Doug D. isn’t going to defend his title, so I’m proud to announce that Jodi is the winner with an impressive score of 8. Santa will be delivering your prize on the night of the 24th.
The runners-up are as follows:
Nancy with 5 ½ (it’s Bud, not Buddy, but no reason for me to be a hardass about it.)
Following close behind is Russ with 5 (pretty impressive guess on number two.)
In fourth place is M.B. with 3 (unless I screwed up his score again or he mounts another protest.)
Laura, Gish and Lookingforspringfield all tallied a rather non-impressive deuce.
Now for our answers:
- Cissy from Family Affair (Looking, she may have been a ho, but only Mr. French knew for sure.)
- Elizabeth from Eight is Enough (Gish, the “Not Hot” sister was Susan. Elizabeth was pretty cute.)
- Billie Jo from Petticoat Junction (M.B., LaMonjello Jo was on the W.B. remake, Petticoat ‘Hood.)
- Jennifer from Family Ties (Poor, homely Jennifer.)
- Buddy, or Letitia, from Family (M.B. was the only one to answer this correctly. I’ve heard that he spent a good deal of time in his adolescence holding up his Kristy McNichol poster with one hand.)
- Elizabeth from The Waltons (Everyone missed this. Did no one remember the closing sequence when they all said goodnight to each other? Goodnight John-Boy. Goodnight Mary-Ellen. Goodnight ELIZABETH. Jeez.)
- Gob, or George Oscar Bluth, from Arrested Development (One of the greatest sitcom characters of all time and only Nancy and Jodi could name him? For shame!)
- Darryl from Newhart (This proved to be the easiest question. Laura thought there were two Larrys. Russ refused to answer it.)
- Meg from Family Guy (I wanted something from a contemporary animated series. Since it’s on constantly, I thought it would be easier.)
- “Bud” from Father Knows Best (Another tough one. Russ got it and Nancy almost got it. I can still hear the quizzical inflection in Robert Young’s voice when concerned about Bud’s odd, sometimes sociopathic, behavior.)
Bonus Question:
Get ready to kick yourself – it’s the Snakehandling O’Sheas from Episode 2 of Season 2 of Saturday Night Live.
I’m really disappointed in M.B. for missing this one. Perhaps the jingle will refresh your memory:
Pop is a hardhat
Mom’s an exec.
Sis is a nun
And Junior is gay.
We all live in Pittsburgh
Oh, that’s a cliche.
What else can we say?
But we’ll be okay.
Because we’re snakehandlers
We handle snakes.
Snakehandlers
Junior is gay.
Snakehandlers.."
Doh! BUDDDDDDDD! (shaking fist)
Despite my relatively competent showing in this little experiment, especially in light of my post 1970 birthdate AND my aversion to anything animated, I am supremely disappointed that I didn’t know Gob (prounounced Jobe) stood for George Oliver Bluth.

Ouch. I completely missed the Newhart question in my haste to get the bonus point for being first. What? There was no bonus point?
Of course, I knew “This is my brother, Darryl and my other brother, Darryl”. Dang.
Also, if Jodi got an 8, we should probably do some recruiting for the trivia team.

Nancy, you received full credit for Gob.
Russ, should I invite Jodi to the Billy Reynolds Trivia Institute in Palo Alto so she can undergo a battery of tests to determine her worthiness of joining our team?

What the hell. I DID NOT think there were 2 Larry’s. I think there is something wrong with your comment submission button that changed my answer. I can even show you my scratch paper where I wrote out my answers before typing them and I wrote Darryl, not Larry.
However, I just figured out why my Family Affair answer was wrong. So for this I will admit being stupid. I answered Uncle Be-il (which i know Nancy will appreciate) because I totally missed the ‘Sibling’ part of Sibling Edition. Ok so I’m stupid but i’m not THAT stupid.

Once again I have to prove that I am the most unreated member of our trvia team. I think next year I am going to seek out a free agency agreement. Trouble is, I dont think the teams that need my brain power have the alcoholic tendancies that my teammates do. I guess I may have to stick around another year and wait for Hoods team to draft a Micky Mantel so I have a drinken partner..

1) I will welcome any trivia challenges that come my way! (and almost any trivia night invites as well…love ‘em!)
2) So someone is trying to steal my first win? I call for a cage match!
