Rate My Netflix Queue
By Dan on Jun 9, 2008 in Movies
You’re probably all wondering what movies I’ll be watching in the coming months, so I thought I’d post my Netflix queue for your enjoyment. It’s a pretty impressive lineup. Comedy, drama, documentaries, music, it’s all there. I should be sufficiently entertained for some time to come.
I’ve always felt that while it’s wrong to judge people by their appearance, you can judge them by their taste in movies. So what does my queue say to you about me?
Oh, and would whoever has the last copy of What’s Up, Tiger Lily? please return it. It was making its way up my queue as recently as a couple of weeks ago, but now it’s on the saved list and it’s availability has been classified as unknown.
The fact that you have My Best Fiend in your list says that you are a highly intelligent and interesting man. I think you’ll like it, Dan. The story of Kinski’s relationship with Herzog is as interesting as any creative collaboration ever.
Looks like a great list.

Please tell me you’ve already seen What’s Up, Tiger Lily? and that you just enjoyed it so much, you’re due for a re-view. So very funny (“he lives on this piece of paper?”).
Impressive list. It’s all good.

John,
Thanks. I became fascinated by Kinski after watching Aguirre and reading a couple of articles about him. I’m looking forward to watching the documentary.
Nancy,
I have seen Tiger Lily before, it’s just been a while and it’s hard to find locally.
Thanks for commenting,
Dan

So, I am thinking about joining Netflix, do you guys think it is worth it? I am looking at their website and it looks like they have several different options. I might try for the 2 at a time option to start and then upgrade to the 3.
Any thoughts?

Rick,
Netflix is definitely a good deal because there’s no late fees. And it’s amazing how quickly they get the DVDs to you after you return one.
We have the basic subscription where we get two movies a month. That doesn’t sound like much, but I usually watch movies while I exercise so it takes me three or four sessions to watch a movie. I’ll probably up our subscription so I can get more kid’s movies.
I originally joined because I wanted to watch some documentaries that weren’t available locally. When you consider that some video stores charge $3 for a new release, Netflix also proves to be a bargain as well.

What this queue says about you: You will have just as high, and unmet, hopes for “Across the Universe” as I did. What a thudding disappointment, especially after seeing “Love” in Las Vegas. What that stage show thrillingly captures in abstract imagery, Julie Taymor’s movie drowns in corny specifics. And I swear that’s still not Bono, but Robin Williams dressed as Bono.
