Russ and Doug D. Super Boss Fun-Time Trivia Winner

M.B. has thrown the red flag and issued a challenge. He’s correct, I did short him a point. He’s also filed a protest with the BFS office against Russ. That status of that protest is pending.

Here are the answers to the Who’s Missing quiz. I was disappointed that more people didn’t wager guesses. This is grade-A blogging fun, people.

1.       Paul Shaffer of the World’s  Most Dangerous Band

2.       Boy George of Culture Club

3.       Elvis Costello, he of the Attractions

4.       Susanna Hoff, cutest Bangle

5.       Jeff Tweedy of Uncle Tupelo, now in Wilco

6.       Ralph Trasvant of New Edition (Johnny Gill didn’t join until after Bobby Brown left, so this is the only correct answer. Not that anyone got it.)

7.       John Ford Coley (“England Dan” Wayland Seals is the brother of Jim Seals, who teamed with Dash Croft in Seals and Croft. A tricky one.)

8.       Juliana Hatfield of the Blake Babies (Cute indie rock chick and BFS favorite.)

9.       Gladys Knight, who once ruled the Pips

10.   Beyonce (The only one everyone got correct.)

Bonus. Cher (Who today contains less than 10 percent of her original parts.)

Winners. Well, you’re all winners to me. The only losers are those who didn’t even try.

Fifth Place:

Anonymous Communist with one correct, plus one bonus point for bodly and incorrectly answering Sonny Day Real Estate to the bonus question.

Fourth Place:

Kathy@Stingfield with two correct answers. Sorry, any Sting answers would have been too easy.

Third Place:

M.B. with four five correct answers and serious consideration for a bonus point for thinking Eugene Levy sang Midnight Train to Georgia.

First Place (tie):

Doug D. with six and Russ with six. I considered deducting a point from Russ for thinking Susanna was smiling at him at that concert. He must have been standing behind me because Miss Eternal Flame was beaming right at me the entire night. Also, unofficial credit to Doug for knowing Elvis Costello’s real name.

Thank you for playing. I’ll likely never do it again.

  1. Uh, that’s five right including the bonus.

You are always trying to keep me down and besmirching my good name!

  2. I think MB should lose a point for using the word ‘besmirching’.

  3. No, Dan. I confirmed that I was getting that wicked little sideways smile from the other 13 year old boys I was with. If not for tightened security, I’m sure I would have been escorted backstage. And weren’t you really there to see Mr. Mister anyway?

  4. Laura,

    I must agree.

I know that this is probably not the appropriate place to post this. I am not trying to hijack your post, but I can’t believe no one is talking about this. Today should be a day of celebration; a day we should have off to celebrate with our loved ones! No not because O.J. is going to jail for a long time. It isn’t because King Blaqo is one step closer to those stylish orange jump suits.

Happy 75th anniversary of the end of Prohibition! Drink your favorite domestic or import and think of all those before you who couldn’t during those dark days.

    Cheers,

    Ed

  6. Ed,

I totally missed that. Thanks for pointing it out. I did watch something on Al Capone on the History Channel this morning while exercising. I guess it was in commemoration of the big day.

  7. I believe I should get credit for Anton Fig, the drummer for the Paul Shaffer Experience.

I cogitated for several minutes between Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant for No. 6. I guess I don’t know my New Jack Swing as well as I thought I did.

Also, question 8 should be tossed because the drummer’s given name is Freda Boner, not Love. Heh, I said “love.”

  8. AC,

I can’t give you credit for Anton Fig, although I’m impressed that you know who he is. The presence in the question of Steve Jordan, a drummer, means that the only answer could be Paul Shaffer. Fig came post Jordan.

I’ll take your Boner/Love objection under consideration, but really, let’s just live and let live.
