Trivia Answers: Know your drummers
By Dan on Feb 17, 2009 in Blog
The winner of this poorly attended round is Russ with an impressive 8+1. The rest are as follows:
Nick – 7
Jeff – 6
M.B. – 6
Looking for Springfield – 4+1
Johann – 3
Roy – 2+1
Brian – 2+1
And now, the results:
1. Led Zepplin – John Bonham (Perhaps the most heralded rock drummer of all time. A bit of a mad man, I’m told.)
2. The Go-Gos – Gina Shock (Yes, Johann, that’s Gina. What is it that you’d say you do if she was on there and you missed her?)
3. The Banana Splits – Bingo (He was reportedly a big influence on Animal from the Muppets band.)
4. Genesis – Phil Collins (Look closely, that’s really him, before he became the king of schmaltzy movie theme songs.)
5. The White Stripes – Meg White (I thought more people would know her from their iconic videos.)
6. Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles – Rob Dulaney (This was a bone thrown to everyone who had the good sense to see their recent show at the Hoogland. The only answer I know personally.)
7. The Red Hot Chili Peppers – Chad Smith (I’ve been saying he looks like Will Ferrell as long as I’ve known who Will Ferrell is. Seems to be the most sane of the Chili Peppers, but also the worst smelling.)
8. The Partridge Family – Chris Partridge II (Everyone got this one correct. So extrapolating from that, I suppose we could argue that he’s a more famous drummer than John Bonham.)
9. The Beach Boys – Dennis Wilson (A 1960s-era picture of Dennis, in a striped shirt and with shorter hair, would probably have been more familiar. No one recognized him from the state fair years, before his drowning.)
10. Fleetwood Mac – Mick Fleetwood (Another gimmee, although two of you didn’t know him. A wily old bird, I’ve always liked Mick.)
Bonus Question:
Yes, it was Johnny Carson who took to the skins after the great Buddy Rich gifted him a kit.
That’s Phil Collins? Wow.

Aw crap.
For the record, I did technicially know who #3 was; I just couldn’t for the life of me remember the name of the band. I knew it was something having to do with dessert…
Okay, NOW do you understand why I just play the home version of your trivia contests instead of the actual game?
