Trivia: Fratin’ house stickel fifer edition
By Dan on Dec 31, 2008 in Trivia
A round of trivia for the new year. I’ve supplied ten memorable bits of dialogue - you tell me the movie from whence they originated. This was inspired by Nick Rogers’ annual quiz in the SJ-R, although his was impossible, while this one is easy, provided you like the same movies that I do.
Googling = Chump
-
“You mocked me once, never do it again — I died that day!”
-
“Now go home and get your shine box.”
-
“Dionne and I were both named after great singers of the past who now do infomercials.”
-
“Mind ya don’t cut yourself, Mordecai.”
-
“A cute button nose? Thick, wavy locks? Taut, round buttocks?”
-
“I wrote sixty-three songs this year. They’re all about Joe, and I’m going to play every single one of them tonight.”
-
“Let me have a Diablo sandwich and a Dr Pepper. Make it fast. I’m in a goddamn hurry.”
-
“Took me, like, three hours to finish the shading on your upper lip. It’s probably the best drawing I’ve ever done.”
-
“Where did you get that dress? It’s awful . . . and those shoes, and that coat, geeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzz.”
-
“On the run from Johnny Law… ain’t no trip to Cleveland.”

I know only 8 and 9, “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Airplane.”
Movies are my life.

6. Say Anything
8. Napoleon Dynamite
9. Airplane (Johnny to the pilot’s wife)
These are the only ones I knew. I obsessively chumped the rest but I see no reason to lie about it.

Wow, these are tough. Here goes nothing.
1. “You mocked me once, never do it again — I died that day!” No idea
2. “Now go home and get your shine box.” Goodfellas
“Dionne and I were both named after great singers of the past who now do infomercials.” Alicia Silverstone was in it, but can’t recall the name. My wife watches this movie from time to time.
“Mind ya don’t cut yourself, Mordecai.” Raising Arizona
“A cute button nose? Thick, wavy locks? Taut, round buttocks?” Shrek 2 when Shrek wakes up and is no longer an ogre.
“I wrote sixty-three songs this year. They’re all about Joe, and I’m going to play every single one of them tonight.” Say Anything - One of Lloyd Dobler’s friends obsessing over her waste of a boyfriend.
“Let me have a Diablo sandwich and a Dr Pepper. Make it fast. I’m in a goddamn hurry.” No clue
“Took me, like, three hours to finish the shading on your upper lip. It’s probably the best drawing I’ve ever done.” Not sure.
“Where did you get that dress? It’s awful . . . and those shoes, and that coat, geeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzz.” Don’t know.
“On the run from Johnny Law… ain’t no trip to Cleveland.” No clue.
Bonus Question:
What movie produced the expletive in the title of this post? Gotta be A Christmas Story. Probably when the Dad was in the basement working on the furnace.

Dan, I’m not much of a movie watcher, but number 8 is from Napoleon Dynamite - which I thought was not only hilarious but an instant classic.
